I know there's probably more to say about sponsored communities, but I want to shift the focus for a minute to "sponsored features" to talk about the changes we're making there ( Read more... )

I'm a long time LJ user and I simply cannot keep up or care about any of the new features. Sorry.

I'm personally not interested in the extra features (I am quite boring) BUT I think you guys are being very reasonable in allowing us paid users not to see the sponsorship. I would have thought it would have been perfectly acceptable to make paid users see advertisments on the pages for these sponsored features considering they're features that weren't offered when we signed up and wouldn't be possible without sponsorship). SO thank you.

And now I shall be flamed to hell and back for not going "OMGZ LJ YOU SUCK!!!!"

And wow, I would have been first if I'd typed "FIRST!" Damn me and my "constructive comments". ;)

Although proof-reading might have been an idea.

For what it's worth, I completely agree with your comment. I have a permenant account, and yet I understand that if there's some New Toy that is very expensive for LJ to offer, and that I want to use it, I might have to see "This feature brought to you by...". And that's reasonable.

Q) If I go to the page for a feature that came about through corporate sponsorship will I, as a user with current paid time, see the sponsoring company name/logo displayed on those pages?
(assuming I'm logged-in)

It sounds like we won't. But I could be reading it wrong.

Paid/Permanent Accounts We never meant to upset you guys by saying that paid and permanent account users will see "sponsored by" logos or advertisements with these features. We're not going to do that.
The way I'm reading it, no.

Will the SMS features be avaliable to people outside the US?

With all this trouble, it had damned well better be. I still have to pay long distance for voice posts; if this advertising crap is for another feature that I, as a paid user, cannot use... I may become a LOT less patient about all this.

I'm interested in this question too.

I feel like half the features I get as a permanent user are useless because I live outside Asia. =( Not really complaining because I understand that the main userbase is from the US, but still...I'm just a little sad.

Probably not. So, don't keep your hopes up.

Ah, well, color me embarrassed then. That's what I get for not paying attention to anything other than the post on top.
