I believe it's time for an update.
I just moved back to SLO yesterday for the start of a fresh, new quarter. This quarter marks the beginnnig of my fifth living arrangement, not including my time in Australia. I live in a mobile home residential area that's 3.3 miles from campus, the farthest I've ever lived from campus. This community has such a relaxing and welcoming vibe to it. I think I'll enjoy my stay here.
The house is kept very nice and clean by my housemate, Allison. She's a mother of two young adults in their 20s. My room looks out into the street where kids play on their bikes, and I get my own bathroom. There's a quaint backyard area with several plants and flowers, and some patio furniture to sit and enjoy the scenery. The property backs up to a creek that's lined with willow trees and morning glories.
Yesterday, I did a pretty good job of unpacking everything. The room was unfurnished, so I have my trusty plasticware furniture and flatpack bookcase. My bed was kept in storage at Cameron's house over the summer. Dad and I went grocery shopping and filled the cupboard. I ate dinner outside on the patio and listened to the sounds around me. There were birds, children playing in the street, and a cat hunting for dinner. Within 30 minutes of my move-in, a firetruck and an ambulance pulled up to the house next door. They took someone to the hospital while everyone peeked out their windows or stood in the doorway. The kids were entertained for half an hour but kept their distance after a warning from the man who lived there. As I was unpacking, I had my window open to let in the cool breeze. Some kids came right up to the window and asked my name. I also met a guy named Matt, who's probably in his late 20s, as he was doing laundry. Tyler and Kristen came over last night to check out the place. A tiny black cat, whose name I later found out to be Monster, came to the front door begging for attention. We sat on the front porch while Monster played with Kristen's shoelaces. After a long day of packing and unpacking, I went to bed at 10:00. I got up at 5:00 am because I couldn't sleep any longer, so here I am, waiting for the sun to come up. I don't have church until 11:00, so I decided to write about my day to pass the time.
