Today I was at Mantay from 9am until nearly 7pm, and a new baby arrived. Her name is Jovana and she's 2 months old. Her mum, Reina, is 13 and is from a campo and can't speak spanish, just quechua. So when I took Jovana to her today to be fed I said 'ñuñu,' which I remembered is quechua for teta or breast, and she nodded. Another time when she was in the guarderia I said 'sikiuye' which means cara de poto (face like a bottom), and she laughed. So maybe my -until now- three classes of quechua will be good for something hehe. It's a fun language.
I am pretty happy. Can't believe that next week will probably be my last week at Mantay. But that's ok, cos lots of good things will be coming after. And I just remembered something I have to think a bit about - I will have to cross the border between Colombia and Ecuador, which isn't the best frontera at the moment due to strained political relations right now. But I'm sure heaps of people still do it. Will have to check that out.
Want Ale to come.
