getting there

Packing for camp, that is. I got the stuff out of the basement that I needed, and it's already in the car. Tent, tarp, sleeping bag, comforter, extra cooler with bonus air mattress inside.

I can't tell you how many times I've had dreams where I found myself at camp without something important, like my tent or clothing. I always have that niggling voice in the back of my head saying, "You've forgotten something!" This is my 20th year in a row, and still I always feel like I'm forgetting something. So far, knock wood, I've not forgotten anything important.

I'm mostly packed; all that's left, really, is the small stuff, like toiletries and sundries. Deciding whether to bring my tote bag, my backpack, or both. Which book, which notebook, which pen. Little things.

When I dragged out my totes to pack my clothes in, I found a bunch of summer clothing I forgot I had. Bonus!

I'm mulling over bringing stuff to give away. Nail polishes I never wear anymore, books I'll never read. Or maybe I'll save it for the yard sale I want to have, but must talk friends into doing it with me. What I'd really like to do is have a yard sale at camp, but I'm not sure how that would go over with the owners and my campmates. Maybe we should think about doing that next year, and ask around.

Today's pic is some yucca flowers I found on my evening walk. Yucca always makes me think of my grandfather, who grew it in his yard. It's like a little wave from him. I love the curly little tendrils on the leaves, and the flower spikes are taller than I am. So creamy and white.

In three days, I will be halfway there, hanging out with my aunt & uncle in Binghamton. In four days, I will be there, hanging out with my honeys. I can't believe it's almost here already!
