There's a large wildfire at Tekoa Mountain, not far from here. I could see the smoke from the hill in the cemetery next door, which you can see in the center of the above picture.
If you've ever driven eastbound on the Mass Pike between exits two and three, you may have noticed Tekoa; it's the big rocky outcropping next to the high bridge on the Russell-Westfield border. If you go up to Middlefield, you pass under this same bridge.
There was another large fire there just before I moved here, eight years ago.
I'm not worried that the fire will reach us here, but it's not very far away (maybe five miles) and the neighborhood smells like smoke.
