FlashForward

I just watched the premiere episode of FlashForward, and I have a few thoughts about it. I'll put it behind a cut, but I don't plan on writing any spoilers, so don't be alarmed if you're reading this on a feed!

I liked it. A lot. The pilot had the same sense of intensity and potential that LOST's had. The characters are compelling. I definitely want to find out what happens to them. The cinematography is really great. I really hope this show succeeds, because I want to know how it ends. I have the same feeling I did at the beginning of LOST: please, let this be a hit! We so need to have good storytelling on TV. Not that I need another show to get addicted to, but then I've dropped a couple, and this has all the signs of being appointment TV.

I just read the book upon which this is based, and already it's veered significantly from the plot. For one thing, the FlashForward is only six months, instead of 21 years. Convenient for this form of storytelling. The characters are different, but their situations are similar. There's only one character from the book that I've seen in the show, and he seems to be the same in name only. I like that the main character is FBI and not from CERN, as in the book. Whoops, OK, so there's a tiny spoiler! Nothing to ruin it, I don't think.

I will definitely be tuning in for the rest of it. What did you think, if you watched it?
