Beltane!

I was indeed up before the dawn this morning, where I greeted the May with a bunch of flower-garlanded lovelies on the banks of the Charles. It did not rain, and it was warmer than last year, so the overcast skies didn't dampen our spirits.
As you can see here, we found lilacs blooming! Our favorite magnolia tree was already way past its prime, so we took pix here instead. See the rest of the pix here.
As is tradition, we headed over to S&S for breakfast at seven. We've been going there for a lot of years, and they always expect us. This morning, however, the service was really not good, and the hostess' attitude was decidedly unfriendly. The waitress was fine, and we left her a decent tip, but will probably go elsewhere next year. Which is too bad, since their strawberry mimosas are delightful.
Since the sky was grey, and we felt a few raindrops, I declined to accompany "textiletart and ned_gasket to Mount Auburn to do flower and bird watching, and headed for home. I thank them for a lovely time last night, though! 'Twas fun.
Ooh, and happy new job day to spinningwheels! What an auspicious day to begin something new. :)
