We had a lovely Equinox ritual and feast last night. I got to be Spring. :)
We had a fairly large crowd, with friends old & new, and a couple of surprises: one person who had moved away and back again came with her new husband, and the news that they're expecting! There was much squeeage (sorry if I broke anyone's eardrums!).
I stayed overnight, and this morning,
sea_dark_wine and
justjanus took me to an old cemetery nearby for a photo walk.
There were a lot of old stones, dating from the early 18th century on.
There were a few primitive-looking stones, that looked like they had been carved by someone who was not a stonemason. Family perhaps?
There was one very large and impressive obelisk dedicated to a young man who was killed in the Civil War battle of Yorktown.
There was also a large memorial to seven Puritans who had come over from England, one of whom lived to 103.
There were a pair of holed stones behind it that didn't appear to be gravestones.
It was fun to peek through them, though. :)
After leaving the M towns, I headed over to mom's to visit. I got the lowdown on my niece's performance this weekend of The Laramie Project. The Westboro Baptist Church folks did indeed show up to protest, but the citizens of Canton showed up by the hundreds to counter-protest.
They were all wearing these t-shirts:
And these stickers:
I'm so proud. :)
The niece unit was telling me about her college search. o_O
She's going for theatre. Must have her talk with
chalkhorse (Emerson is on her list - is that where you teach?).
Mum loaded me up with goodies from her sizable freezer, as always, and I hit the road for home. Hit some traffic between Worcester and Sturbridge, but the trip was otherwise uneventful.
Very glad to be home. Bed early tonight.
What adventures have you had this weekend?
