patience and testing and all that

It is a failing of mine, to which I fully admit, that I have little patience for ignorance, intolerance, and plain old stupidity. So it is, I suppose, my karma that I've had to deal with more than my share of all three today in the form of customers. I had one woman placing an ad for a house for rent that, if she weren't quite so thick, would surely have known that I had absolutely no use for her ingorant and bigoted remarks concerning the type of tenant she didn't want. Despite my stony gaze and tightly clamped lips, she continued to blithely remark about illegal aliens, children, and 'those people.' She also went on and on (and on) about the previous tenant, who was ideal, but she died. Oy. My coworkers kept giving me looks that said "better you than me" and I tried my best to hurry her through the process without being overtly rude. It was difficult.

I've also had a few on the phone who, while it sounds like they're speaking English, evidently are speaking a different form of English than I am accustomed to, because they didn't understand a word I was saying.

Oh yeah, Mercury is still retrograde, isn't it?

*sigh*
