When they first talked about the new Star Trek movie coming out, I had a brilliant idea for if an old episode of Doctor Who was recast. This is what I came up with
The Doctor is played by Captain James Tiberius Kirk of the Star Trek Enterprise
The Valeyard (an evil version of the Doctor) is played by Denny Crane from Boston Legal
The Master is played by Alan Shore, also from Boston Legal
Let me explain my reasoning. I love Boston Legal, and all the characters in it. But especially I love the bromance between Denny Crane and Alan Shore. It's like I imagine the Doctor and the Master would have behaved in the Academy. So the Star Trek movie gave me the perfect opportunity.
Yesterday I watched the movie. These are my thoughts about it:
1) George Kirk:
be_themoon said it best. "naming the child you will never see as you die to save it"
2) I love the education system on Vulcan. Those pods are so cute
3) Spock is bullied for being half human and they teased him about his 'human eyes' (like the Doctor)
4) "live long and prosper" while giving the evil eye \\.//_
5) Kirk is a smooth talker like Jack Harkness. Gets into fights like him too.
6) I love the test. Kirk eating an apple reminded me of Hornbeck from Inherit the Wind
7) Spock=pointy-eared bastard! Hee! The trial thing makes him seem even more like the Doctor
8) I love how Dr. McCoy got Kirk onto the ship
9) I love Chekov. He's so little and his accent is so cute! And he's seventeen
10) I love Sulu, just because he's Sulu.
11) I love time travel, but I must have been getting popcorn when they explained why the movie is an alternate reality. So as far as I'm concerned, it isn't.
12) Oh, poor Spock! his mother is dead and he doesn't know how to show what he feels
13) Alien dinosaurs! Leonard Nimoy! Mind merging! can this movie get any better?
14) "You marooned me for mutiny" "Mutiny? Then you're not the captain?"
Many things about this movie made me really happy, and I can't even begin to name them all
