Some very exciting news!
What a Christmas week we have had!! Amazing Christmases with both families, trip to Friday Harbor, and upon our return Mike gets a letter in the mail from UW saying he GOT IN!!! He starts on Jan 4th!!! So soon. He was originally turned down for winter quarter, then appealed the decision and they accepted him. We have a TON of stuff to get done now by next week like transfer his BCC final credits, get registered, get textbooks, and get financial aid straightened out, but it is really great news and very exciting for him. Since he's taken SO many community college courses, he only has a little over a year before he'll be done with his Bachelor's degree. I'm really proud of him, and it looks like we are an official Husky family.
In other big news, we are planning a trip to Egypt in September/October. I'm getting back on birth control so we can focus on traveling for a while. We're going to get a pretty big tax return next month since I can deduct all of mine and mike's tuition from last year, so we will be buying the tickets soon. Plus, Mike will be getting bigger financial aid checks for living and books, so I can use more of my money for trips for us. It's going to be an exciting year.
I had no idea that the Red Sea (off the coast of Egypt) was so amazing; it is one of the top diving spots in the world, and looks incredible (see below). Plus, we will do Cairo (the pyramids at Giza), sail the Nile, and Luxor for a few days each as well. Mike's sister and her husband may be joining us too. We both kind of figure that once we have kids and a mortgage, things like going to Africa to see the Pyramids will be on hold for quite a while, so we want to do it now while we still can.
In MUCH sooner news I'm off to Vegas in about 6 weeks...let's get our plans firmed up!
