just in case you're actually following this saga...
Had my 3rd interview. I think it went really well, it was over an hour again. I have a pretty strong feeling I will get it unless they find someone with just shitloads of experience.
It was definitely a different office experience. No jeans allowed except on Fridays, men wearing ties, some older people in offices, a lot of what looked to be 27-35 yr olds in cubicles. Low-walled cubes so they can see what you're doing which is a minor bummer. So, my suspicions that it would be a different (aka normal) office environment were right. However, my current office is quite unusual so that was obviously expected. It would not be a lot of playing or goofing around at work, and I am trying to convince myself that that is ok.
On to the good: they still match employees 401k plans, have stock options and profit sharing, match half of your short term disability (aka PAID maternity leave up to 6 months, which is huge), 2 weeks vacation (3 weeks after 3 years) 6 days sick and the normal 10 holidays, which is exactly what I have here. They have full health benefits, just like I have here, and this job is actually hourly. They basically just take the salary and break it down into hours, which means I will be eligible for overtime. They said that they try to avoid that, like all companies do, but what that means is I won't be expected to work a lot outside my normal office hours, which I sometimes am here. On the other hand, if I take off an hour early, I don't get paid for it. The schedule is pretty flexible, like here, you just have to let them know when you'd like to be in and work your 8 hours. I get the feeling that 10-6 wouldn't really be cool, but anywhere between 7 and 8:30-9 seems ok, and it really just depends on what your team does.
So now I wait. I would really love it if they offered me the job on like Tuesday of next week. Because then 2 weeks from that would be the day I get back from Vegas, and I would not have to tell my new job about it at all. They already know about my honeymoon, and they said it was fine as long as they knew about it ahead of time, but I don't want to start off with a bunch of vacation demands.
