my birthday present from michael was a date to the opera :)
i can't help reveling in occasions to dress up, so here is a picture my dad snapped right before we left:
earlier tonight, we saw bizet's "carmen" at the music hall at fair park. many people think that operas are lame or boring, but those people are wrong. opera is like listening to beautiful singing, watching fabulous acting, and attending a great orchestra concert all at once.
also, it was in french, which was cool too, since i understood a lot of what was going on. but for the times i didn't, there were supertitles above the stage.
anyway, this is just one more reason why i hope to become a new york resident :)
