I swear, my body knows exactly when the worst times for me to get sick are, and plots my demise accordingly.
Example 1: National Convention last fall... started showing signs of sickness at say 11 p.m. the night before we left. Spent the first day of sickness in the confines of Mishy's car for the 14-hour drive to Memphis. Then had to turn around and do it all again two days later, all without any sort of cold medication because I hadn't known I was going to be sick.
Example 2: Food poisoning right during midterms, thus dropping my grade from an A to a B+ in one class, and dropping my grade from a B to a C in another. Greaaat.
Example 3: Current. Had allergy flares earlier in the week, thought nothing of it. Then yesterday woke up with a sore throat and a stuffy nose. Headed to Publix, bought OJ and cold medicine, then proceeded to drink nearly half the OJ in one day to try to get all the Vitamin C possible. Well, it didn't work. I woke up today feeling weak, slightly queasy, and my head is super stuffy.
Dan called a bit ago to see if I was still coming to the Fick show, but I said I didn't think I'd make it. Ten13Concept is playing right now, and I obviously didn't make it to see them. I just took some different cold medication since the first one didn't work, and I'm hoping it will produce better results. If it wasn't so damn hot outside, I'd still try to make it, but there's nothing worse than being sick and standing around in the heat.
Now the question is whether or not I'll even make it to the Tennessee game. This is probably our biggest game of the season (due to a VERY controversial game last year where a bad ref call allowed Tenn. to score in the last few seconds, costing UF the game), and I realllly don't want to miss being there if we win. The game doesn't start until 8 so I have more time if I need it. I may go and attempt, and if I'm too weak, leave early. *sigh* And if that wasn't bad enough, I have stadium clean-up tomorrow. Yeah... picking up trash in the heat when you're also sick? Could you think of anything worse? Here's to hoping I don't pass out!
