Just an announcement... my biggest spelling pet peeve has been popping up everywhere lately, and I feel the need to get this out of my system.
The word is "definitely", not "definately". Some of the smartest people I know spell it with the 'a', and I just don't know why. It doesn't even sound like an 'a' when you say it! "def-in-ITe-ly". Not "def-in-ATe-ly".
I'm not a great speller at times, but definitely is a word that is used very frequently in our conversational language, so there's really no excuse.
In turn for this, I will share my own language flaw. For years I said: "prosponed" instead of "postponed". No one really caught on, since they sound a lot alike. Once I started typing, the error became obvious. I think I'm finally out of the habit, but for some reason I really did think the word was "prosponed".
Thanks.
The end.
