Christmas was great. I actually woke up early (yes, my parents were shocked) in order to open gifts before my grandparents came over for lunch.
I was actually more excited for my parents to open their gifts then to open my own, but that's mainly because I've had the gifts wrapped for like a month sitting in my dorm. lol.
They loved their gifts, and were impressed with my shopping skills. Yay!
They gave me DVDs (Dawson's Creek season two, ER season one, Pirates of the Caribbean and Lilo and Stitch), CDs (Sarah Mclachlan and No Doubt), clothes (yay for another off-the-shoulder shirt!), a new Legolas poster and an LoTR desk calendar (it'll be April 1st for a while folks... yum), gift cards to Old Navy and Target (BIG woot for those), some other fun odds and ends for the dorm (Candyland, this new Trivial Pursuit game and this gator football game that will be destroyed within ten minutes...lol), a Phi Sigma Pi lavalier, and my favorite gift of all: a one-of-a-kind glass/silver beaded bracelet from an artist in Punta Gorda. My parents know me well enough to know that I love unique jewelry, as opposed to the mass-produced gold charm bracelets or anything like that. I'll take a picture of it when my camera battery is charged. It's AMAZING. Mom says the artist was sad to see the bracelet go because it was the favorite one she had at the time. I can see why!
My mom's actually taking me to Punta Gorda tomorrow so that I can go see the jewelry shoppe. Apparently they have cases upon cases where you can make your own... so I think I'm going to make one with the Phi Sigma Pi colors. Yay! I think Mom wants to make one for herself as well... my dad got her two less-flashy ones that will go with her wardrobe, but I think she wants a nifty beaded one like mine too ;).
So after gifts, my grandparents came over for dinner. It's getting harder to see them, because they're getting older and less agile. My grandma has been battling arthritis (sp) for years, so we're used to her having issues, but ever since my grandpa had open-heart surgery two years ago, he's been becoming less and less able bodied. His case is especially hard for me to take, because he's always been so active with me. Teaching me how to swim, riding bikes around the neighborhood, skipping rocks at the river, attending every single band concert or football game that I performed at... even the majority of my dance recitals back in the day. It's starting to hit me that they're not immortal.
Bah, enough of that. After they left, Mom and I watched some special features on my DVDs and then watched Lilo and Stitch since she hadn't seen it. I was sad though, because my Stitch is back in Gainesville guarding my dorm room. *pouts*
I watched multiple episodes of Dawson's Creek, which was bad for me (or good for me, as Daniel will probably say) because now I'm wishing Dawson and Joey ended up together in the end. Let me watch the third and fourth seasons and I'll switch back to Pacey, but it's been so long since I've watched the second season that all the nostalgia is rushing back. Did I mention that I hate Jen? hahaha.
Well, I'm off to play Snood. I hope everyone had a marvelous holiday!!!
