Everyone has a broken butt story, it turns out. I don't know how many times this past week, after explaining what happened to me last week, I heard similar stories from whoever I was talking to: they fell down stairs, mostly, and all of them said it took forever to heal. GAH. It's been a week plus a couple of days and I still can't sit comfortably or walk for long. I didn't walk all week, and today when Martin and I went out, I had to cut our walk short because halfway around the village, it was getting really painful. I've ordered a pillow to use at work, since I'm basically sitting all day there, and it's the worst, but it won't come until Wednesday so I'll have to suffer through the next 3 days with the same discomfort as last week.
I worked from home on Friday and it was so nice. I've been working in the office for 2 weeks straight, and I was really missing being able to work from home. I would ideally like to work at least 2 days a week, but am not sure that's always going to be doable. We'll see. We have a new designer starting on our team tomorrow, so I'll probably be in the office all this week because of training her, etc.
Yesterday, I spent 10 minutes putting together the financial info for my FBARs and about 15 minutes today actually submitting it. Then we checked Martin's account status but he was nowhere near the threshold for required submission. Karin is supposed to come home for dinner tonight and I hope to sit her down for 10 minutes and get hers done, too. Then I still have to do all our US taxes, but at least one stupid US obligation will be done.
Frasse, the neighbor cat, is here visiting, and I just heard him sneeze out in the foyer. I hope that doesn't mean there is a giant slug of cat snot on the floor. Blech. He's a very snotty cat, but he makes up for it by being sweet and cuddly. Martin stole him and brought him in after our walk, but it really doesn't take much enticing. If he sees us, he's over here like a shot, coming in to hang out for a couple of hours.
It's been a relatively quiet weekend. I had dinner with Debbie and Camilla on Friday evening at Camilla's place, which was lovely, as usual. Yesterday, Anders and I went to 3 different places looking for replacement kitchen chairs but only found 1 possible. There seem to be basically only 3 styles of kitchen chairs available anywhere in Sweden: wooden country kitchen style (which is what we have), modern bucket seat style, or formal fabric-covered. There are a few other outliers but they are usually plastic or metal or extremely expensive. There are a couple of other places we want to check out before we decide. The ones that were possible were at Mio and they have a grey fabric seat and white wood frame. Our table is a huge solid antik-stained pine behemoth and we're not sure white chairs will really work with it. Anders says he can paint the legs and bottom edge white so that it will match better, but honestly, I'm not sold. We'll see.
Hoping tonight to get a few more things booked for our Rome trip: Pantheon and Villa/Palace Borghese. We've planned a day trip to Pompeii (renting a car) and have tickets one day for the Vatican museums and one day for the "big three": Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hills, plus we'll probably throw in the Trevi fountain. We also have to book a sunset trip up to the dome of St. Peter's which I've been told not to miss. Going in the Basilica itself is free, but if you want to go up in the dome, you have to get tickets in advance. The good news is that Italy is dropping COVID pass requirements now in April, though mask-wearing is still mandatory for most attractions. Only a month away, whee!
I'm thinking that I need to plan to take some Fridays off during the summer, because the distance between 2 weeks off at the beginning of May and 3 weeks off at the end of August is going to be hard to deal with...unless I can work from home a bit more..which I'm hopeful about.
Now I've sat for long enough for my butt to really start hurting so that's the end of my weekend catch-up. Frasse just came in to get petted, too, so off I go.
