this drabble/lyrics challenge, I tossed one out there. Hooray. If you've not of the song (Crazy Ever After) or The Rescues, you should be shot without fair trial. ;) Go check them out.
a/n: it's not beta'd or even spellchecked, it was just something I rattled off between a burglary and a larceny xD

Everybody leaves. My goldfish when I was five. My best friend when I was thirteen. My first boyfriend when it was time for college. George left me for Izzie. Erica left me when I defended the hospital...and Izzie as a byproduct. Mark left me for Lexie. So I can't help but feel the weight of Arizona's last words to me five minutes ago. Goodbye. It was just so... final, so weighted, so... she left her keys to the apartment on the mantle. She said she was just going to get Starbucks. Maybe it was the fight we had last night. The one where she was crying and I was crying and she threw the teddy bear Erica gave me at my head.
"I can't be her, I'm NOT her."
That's what she was yelling when she threw it.
She's right. She's not her. I can't say she's better because nobody is ever really better. But... I love Arizona. This realization dawns on me as I hear the front door open again. I'm on my feet, tossing the teddy bear into a closet reserved for the stuff we're collecting to give to charity. I wait for her to set her iced vanilla chai tea down before I press her fully against our refrigerator.
"Stay." I breathe against her neck.
Arizona relaxes into me, pulling me closer.
"Why?"
The question would normally hurt my feelings but I've not given her a reason yet to even consider staying. I pull away just enough to fall into her blue eyes. My throat is aching with the ball of emotion stuck there. I move my hands to take her face in them, stroking the spot where her dimples normally reside.
"Because I love you, I love you because you aren't her, because you could never be her." I blink as a few tears fall from my own eyes. "I love you."
Arizona tilts her head slightly, taking in this new information. After an agonizing amount of time, she raises a hand and traces the contour of my eyebrow before tangling it in my hair. She pulls my head down, kissing me, catching my bottom lip with her teeth and soothing the bite away with her tongue before pulling away again.
"I love you too."
