Upon Further Reflection - 5x04 - A Katy or a Gaga

Nov 10, 2013 11:22

“A Katy or a Gaga” doesn’t want to stop tickling my brain. Which is sort of funny to me, because while I thought it was a solid episode for a handful of reasons, I definitely didn’t *love* it. It didn’t make my heart race, it didn’t make me cry, and I didn’t particularly care for any of the musical performances (in fact, they pained me with a LOT ( Read more... )

It is no surprise that I'm pretty much aligned with you.

But you can get a decent amount of mileage out of something quite small. Blaine walking into the choir room on the phone, and all we hear is the very last moment of the conversation and a goodbye. Or Kurt saying goodnight to the girls because he’s meeting Blaine on Skype in a few minutes. A few quick texts sent. I assume all is well in their world, but I would like to explicitly see at least a little bit of it (even if what I really want is QUITE A LOT of it, but that's what fanfic is for). I mean, they’re newly engaged but living almost 600 miles apart from one another, and have recently reunited after a tough breakup that exposed some serious communication flaws. I would think they might want to talk or text a few times a day, no? I keep thinking about how troubled their relationship has been for so long and how short of a time they've been back together and what that must mean for them, and while I know the show can't be centered around that I'd really, really, really find ( ... )

I would pay a large sum of money for them to drop the Jarley/Bree thing. Actually, I'm ready for Marley to dump Jake and for all of them to just kind of hang out in the background until we can get Blaine, Sam, Tina and Artie the hell out of Ohio.

Exactly. I know that, despite what I may wish, the entire show can't revolve around the pair of them. (Dammit.) But they are also THE big romantic pairing the show has at the moment, so let's give them some depth, right? I don't need them to show me *everything*, but I think they'd be incredibly foolish not to give us *something*.

I SO agree with you about getting mileage out of the small things - snippets of conversations between the two of them, etc. Those moments always make me warm and fuzzy, and we get the added bonus of knowing there will be fic to read to fill in the gaps!
I pretty much agree with everything here - I definitely think they are building an arc with several characters, and it seems like Kurt is at the centre of it, so yay, and here's hoping!
I said in my own recap that I almost had tears in my eyes at the Rachel/Kurt scene - gorgeous and gentle and perfect. Can't wait for next week (actually, it's this week now!)

Agreed, that Hummelberry scene was just so great.

Just a few little pieces would go a LONG way, without eating up tons of screen time or requiring anything fancy on the production side. A couple of throwaway lines would be a great start. (Though I'm going to need more than that, eventually, I'm willing to start small.)
