Time for the Baker/Gregory families' birthday season.

Peter and Elissa's wishlists can be found on Amazon.com here (Peter) and here (Elissa).  We also have wish lists at One Step Ahead for each of them, though they are only accessible via invitation, ask me, I don't want to SPAM you.

I'd like to find an Austin-area school with a GT program like this one that I grew up in.  I'd be perfectly happy to send Peter to public school where the GT program didn't suck quite so badly as Austin ISD's. *sigh*

Good news! Elissa's ear infection has finally cleared up! It started at the end of September as a sinus infection, didn't clear up with amoxicillin, and turned into a double ear infection. That didn't clear up with omnicef, and given the family histroy of allergy to Augmentin (no, not the amoxicillin part, the "augment" part, clavulanic acid), we ( Read more... )

My toddler gets his second.

set of tubes, that is.  One tube came out a few months ago and the fluid has been building up and bothering him, he keeps scratching and rubbing his ear like it itches, and this week he had some unpleasant stuff ooze out the other ear through the still-intact tube.  He's had a run of sinus infections this year, with only ( Read more... )

Training Elissa to go to sleep without her pacifier I will consider and immediate success:

Put her down and let her fuss for 10 minutes, pick her up and calm her, put her down and let her fuss herself to sleep after another 10 minutes.  Instead of waking at 2, 4, 5, and 6, she woke once, at 4am.  That was the most sleep I've gotten in the past 4 ( Read more... )

Peter has now had 5 days straight of no accidents!!!  I'm surprised and amazed.

What did it take, you ask?  Putting him in underwear all day.  The peer pressure of all the kids around him going potty every hour, many of them in underwear as well, helped get rid of the power struggles he tried to pull when we requested that he sit on the potty.  I ( Read more... )
