this is mainly for me, but if you want to read, GO RIGHT AHEAD.

soooo today i went to visit mount saint mary college in newburgh.

at first i was just like, hey what the hell, its a free application. WHY NOT.
i was going past it at a college fair, and i thought it sounded familiar (the one at CHS nontheless) so i stopped and asked on a whim if they had education as a major. they did so i took the paper that said "yayyy we r a good school blah blah blah"
i went home and i saw that it had a 5 year ed program and is a private school-exactly what im looking for because i cant deal with large groups, small school-small classrooms, right?

so i applied there. and when i was on the website i signed up for an open house, for today 12.7.

friday, i got a paper in the mail saying i was accepted and i got an email that night saying that i was eligible for the presidential scholarship for 14,000 a year renewable for 4 years.
allright. so at this point im like, okay, a second acceptance, now i have to visit and shit, wasnt really looking forward to it, but whatever.

i get there. and was completely blown away, it was soooo so so so beautiful, completely unlike the other schools ive looked at.
im gonna just rant about the schools lmao.

the swimming aspect for college of saint rose was reallyy nice. i met with the coach and i would def have a spot on the team. and its a div.II school. i watched one of their practices and it was in a 4 lane 25 yard pool. its a little small, (4 lanes-30 people, a little crowded) but the pool is very close to the freshman dorms.
canisius swim coach, i corresponded with the old coach through emails, and then she got a job offer in some other state, i want to say ohio? but its a div I school. andddd the pool is like 4 blocks away from the dorms and the athletic center is like, seperate from the regular campus. which would suck in buffalo because when it snows, it snows ALOT becuase of all the lake-effect snow.
MSMC swimming: div III, its alot more leniant with practices being mandated and stuff. NO MORNING PRACTICES. whatttt thank tha lawd. spoke to the asst swim coach and a swimmer and they were both sooo so so nice, both education majors as well so that was helpful.

DORMS.
Canisius has 4 person suites FOR FRESHMEN, which are 3 rooms, 2 people living in 2 rooms with a desk a bed a dresser and a closet/armoire type thing. the rooms are veryyy bright. and theres a middle room with a tv and some furniture in it. a closet for coats and stuff. very nice. the lights were really bright, but i also visited in the summer and there was no decorations in the room, which probably made them look alot brighter. there were a lot of windows too. beautifull. theres laundry view which is online and u can literally, watch ur laundry from upstairs this way u know whether you have to go downstairs or not to get the laundry loll. there was a bathroom in each wing or whatever, three wings on a floor. and 36 people on a floor so thats about 12 people per bathroom. they were well kept too, i wasnt disgusted when i was touring. BUT AGAIN, it was also in the summer, when there was no school in session. SOOO i want to go back and visit.  they have a kitchen/common area in an alcove of each floor which would be awesome, and its bright and there are windows and colors everywhereee and i love that about it.

St rose has typical dorms, they were alot bigger than suny potsdams, because thats really the ones i was comparing it to considering thats the only one ive been too. (the freshman dorms). they were nice, 2 beds, 2 desks, 2 dressers. but it was very friendly and whatever. the laundry there was free to wash and dry your clothes. i didnt see much of the freshman dorms because carolyn took me on a tour and shes a sophomore, so i saw mostly her dorm and a bunch of her friends' dorms which werent close to the freshmen dorms. (not a big fan of the fr. dorms)

msmc now, has suites that are very similar to canisius'. i didnt notice the lighting when we went in, probably because they had people living in them and there was furniture and stuff in it. ONE PLUS: there are personal bathrooms, one in each suite. you can have a 2 person room, a 4 person suite, or a 6 person suite. the 6 person suite has TWO bathrooms. and the 4 person suite has one, but stillllll thats so crazy. its not as if its just a toilet either. theres a sink and a shower and a toilet, its not HUGE, but its not teeny tiny either. laundry is in the basement, no laundry view, but ill get over that, idrc about thatt aspect of it.

DINING
they all have a dining hall and a little cafe or something if you dont want to go to the dining hall everyday, which is good. not much else to say about dining, none of them really stood out for that.

location
saint rose: Albany, about a 3-4 hour car drive. airport incredibly close, i think i can take a train to penn, not sure tho. its in the city tho. there really isnt a campus, persay. its as if the city was there and THEN they built the college amidst the city. i cant really explain it very well.
canisius: BUFFALO, 8+ hour car drive, airport nearby, train nearby, subway system in buffalo, nothing remotely close to NYC OBVIOUSLY. even tho  the college is in the city, canisius is like split from the rest of the city where it is a campus. which is good=]!
msmc: newburgh, 2 1/2 hr car drive, dont need an airport. i think there is a train, but whatever there are so many people that are from long island there that i dont think i would need a train if necessary. BUENO!

off campus
saint rose: NOTHING. theres a pricemart which is like a walbaums, like 2 blocks away but thats really it, there isnt anything to do in the city reallly. which kind of sucks.
canisius: there is SO much to do, there are bars and coffee shops all over, PLUS its only 5 miles away from canada where the drinking age is 18, say whatttt. the mets AAA team just moved to buffalo like, 3 weeks after i visited. lol weird much? i think so<3
msmc: theres a mall or whatever but there rreally isnt much to do off campus i dont think. i dont really know, we didnt talk about that much in the tour group i was in too much.

weather.
buffalo gets alotttt of lake effect snow because its right on lake erie.
but newburgh also gets a lot of snow and it was really cold today because its right on the hudson river.
albany is i guess in between them, but its still upstate so its gonna be cold no matter what...

class size
really small EVERYWHERE, and i love it.
i dont think i would do well in a big classroom because there is no personal relationship with the teacher and no one would be able to push me. idk i feel like that would make me really nervous, one of the reasons im looking into private schools.

tuition
canisius: 23,930
saint rose: 18,672
msmc: 17,730

and so far ive been awarded 12G for saint rose and 14G for msmc. i havent been accepted to canisius(yet)

the ed department in saint rose didnt stand out much, it wasnt that exceptional.
canisius and msmc on the other hand were awesomeee.

ahh theres a bunch of other little things that are deciding factors really. but idkkk.

MUSIC! thats a big one.
canisius has a jazz band and a marching band and a concert band that i can try out for, because i do still want to keep up with the piano and clarinet OF COURSE. <3
st rose also has an amazing music building with pianos all over in practice rooms and stuff. and i can join a clarinet choir and not even minor in music which would be awesome...
BUT msmc doesnt have that. well i dont THINK they have it. they did a lot of rennovations and this year is the first year that they are doing a musical for the spring, and to have a musical, you need a pit.
SO hopefully they keep that up and i can be a part of that <3 that would be awesome.
and i should just form a jazz band or something. or even play the piano in the church choir there. so i donttt knoww..

SECURITY
on campus, saint rose is super dee duper safe. BUT as soon as you get off campus its a very desolate area and thattssss nooo good. PLUS we were walking in and out of buildings and no one was stopping us.
canisius has these lockdown things where you need to swipe a card to get in and you can only get into certain buildings, depending on what dorm ur in and other stuff.
msmc is very similar to canisius with the swipe the card thing lol.

ahhh idkkk what to doo...

right now, saint rose is looking very shitty for me. overall i mean. certain aspects were okay, but idk

as of now, canisius and msmc are very comparable. but msmc's closer.. IDK. its really confusing. i just hope i make the right choiceee...
=/
