OMG
Last night was Apollo Night the Harvard Black Students' Association version of Showtime at the Apollo. I performed a verse from "Strange Fruit" and a monologue from Funnyhouse of a Negro. The combination of the two was somewhat depressing and most people who saw it thought that. But, 1) I didn't get booed of the stage (my biggest fear), 2) Many people actually had to think about it and once they did were quite moved and thought it was powerful, 3) I was able to act without the major commitment of participating in show, 4) people who I really wanted to see this monologue, saw it and loved it. Shout out to Courtney who also sent me a number of monologues.

After Apollo Night, my blockmates took me and anothe of my blockmates to Uno's and we had such a wonderful conversation. It was so awesome feeling the love of the blocking group, not just for the performers, but for everyone that was there. I really felt like I had mini-fam then.

After Uno's, my roommates and I went to party that was in the entryway next door and it was fantastic. We didn't know anyone (which is a rare thing at most Harvard parties) and were able wile out without needing to worry about random people we knew or didn't know coming up to us. I have to admit, it was little awkward watching all the drunken revelry, but all-in-all very fun.

After the room party, the roommates and I came back and talked for almost an hour and it felt like we finally connected. I was so tired, so I think I was acting a little silly, but that was great, even though someone pulled the fire alarm at 3:00 am.

Anyways, that is all, not completely spectacular. But, more of a case of everything coming together at the right moment, I think.
