I hate that Adam is dead, but I think it fits in really well with the pathos of the show. Dean's reaction, that Adam's better off dead, shows that he wasn't kidding around when he told Castiel that the angels were screwed if they were depending on him to stop the apocalypse. Dean thinks they're going to lose and I think Sam knows it and it's pushing him to more and more desperate action.
Still, I would have like to have seen Adam survive. He was an innocent and he was just meat to the monsters. Personally, I would have like to have seen him more on the show because I think it would have brought the show back around to being about family and away from this big drama of their DESTINIES. I miss the family intimacy.
That I didn't even see. Maybe I need to watch it again. I do agree that Dean thinks they're all doomed -and he's going along with the fight because what else can he do? He'll try, but he's not confident.
I as well think that the fate/destiny plot has over shadowed the family dynamic part a little too much. It should be more of a balance.
