Released in January 27, 2010 as a B-side to the Bless single, Route 666-2010- is the P'unk~en~Ciel version of Real album track # 8. Originally composed by Hyde, the P'unk version was produced by YUKI P'UNK.
What's the difference between Route 666 and Route 666-2010-?
Let me count the ways.
1. Route 666 is a BLAH song. Remarkably does not stand out much, considering that it was preceded by Tetsuya's very pop-pilicious Stay Away. It did not help either that the following track was the very cool Time Slip. Nothing outstanding about the music, except for Ken's guitar playing which was so quirky, I can hear strains of country and blues in it. In fact, the guitar is the redeeming value of Route 666 and what prevented the song from being too boring to listen to.
2. Now, Route 666-2010- should be the song that was Route 666 in year 2000. Loud, fun and damn good! You can hear the progression of the band's skills- Tetsuya in vocals, Hyde in lead guitar, Yukkie in bass and Ken in drums. Most especially Ken, whose drum playing is unexpectedly better than good! He can now pass himself as a legitimate drummer. He's that good in this song. Of course, the others were also more than credible in their reversed roles. Tetsuya sounded as if he OWNED this song. Hyde's guitars were decent and while I cannot hear much of Yukkie's bass except for that one line near the end, the rhythm was in sync with the drums.
Route 666-2010- can be released as a single. It is that good. Song has recall, and it is just an all around solid music from the P'unks. I would definitely spend money just to listen to this stuff.
