Intro

God is pointing towards a new path in my life, one He's been pointing me towards for the past 20 years - that of working with women that have been sexually abused or have had abortions.   The more fervently I pray for His guidance and wisdom and to see what He will have me see, the more I push forward towards His will for my life, the more I begin to realize that I've still got a very long, difficult journey ahead of me.

My mind is spinning in circles.  I want to talk about the wonderful things God is doing in my life, but that means talking about my past - 98% of which has been kept a secret all these years - and the unknown/forgotten wounds that are being opened as a result (darn those prayers for wisdom! LOL).  However, I don't want to talk about my past b/c the truth is going to cause a lot of pain for my loved ones and I'm not ready to deal with that, nor the disappointment or shock or shame or judgment or whatever else might possibly occur as well.

My other writing/venting/blogging outlets are well frequented by family and friends so I don't feel free to share my feelings there.  Other than God, my best friend Nan is the only living person that truly knows the whole story. She's the one that suggested I find a new place to blog so I can share my spiritual journey and find the healing I need.   So until the time comes that I'm ready to share it all with everyone else IRL, she is the only person that knows I'm even here.  Besides you of course.  I hope to find new friends and forge lasting relationships with other Christians, so please speak up and don't be shy!

But first, a few things about myself so you can kinda get to know me better.

  • I''ve been married to Manny for 15 years and have 2 boys, ages 10 (Andy) and 14 (Alex).
  • I am the oldest of 4 children (at 34), with 3 younger brothers that are 32 (Chris), 26 (Johnny), and 25 (Joey).
  • My only nephew (Ronnie) turned 1 in February.
  • My oldest and youngest brothers are active soldiers, currently stationed in Iraq.  My middle brother is a medically-discharged vet. Both my parents are vets too.
  • I have a huge extended family, although I'm not particularly close to any of them.
  • Nan lives half the continent away and we've never met IRL, despite our 7 yr friendship. She's the one that kept me sane at the turning point of my life.
  • I have two other good friends that I've known for 15 (Tammie) and 17 (Eryn) years. In the past, Eryn had a tendancy to bail when I needed her the most; one more thing that I'm working through.  Tammie and I are only just now starting to really open up to each other.
  • I accepted Christ as my Savior 4 1/2 years ago but wasn't Baptized in the Holy Spirit until last autumn.
  • I'm Pentacostal and attend a small, local Assemblies of God church.
  • I believe in the speaking of tongues, and yes, I do speak in it when I pray.
  • I teach 1st/2nd grade girls in a Sunday-school type setting and sing on the worship team.
  • I'm an admin assistant to a VP for a large IT department and I absolutely love it.
  • I have a dog, 2 cats, and 2 turtles. They're all my babies.
  • I'm a coffee freak, love chocolate and caramel (together, alone, in coffee, etc), mint chocolate chip ice cream, mountain dew, and sweet tea.
  • I prefer tex-mex over real mexican unless Manny is cooking, steak, fettucini alfredo, and pizza.
  • Chili's texas cheese fries, Bennigan's haystacks (extra crispy!), and IHOP's fried cheese straws all rock, second only to chips, salsa, and a good queso.

Manny says it's time for bed so I'll post more tomorrow.  Good night and God Bless!
