Offered: Research Assistance

Jul 10, 2008 22:51

This isn't a typical offer on here from what I can see, but it's what I do well, so I hope someone needs it!

Calling all students (or other people too)!  Are you starting research for a thesis or major term paper for your high school or undergraduate level classes next year?  Are you frequently at a loss when it comes to finding sources for a project?  I can help!  Really!  No, REALLY.  I can.*

Offer: I will help you find information and sources on any academic topic of your choice, and give you advice on how to find the type of information you are looking for.  Please post the subject area or topic you'd like assistance with in your bid.  If you don't know yet, give me a general area if possible.

I'm an experienced researcher about 3/4 of the way through my Masters in Library Science degree, and I have access to an unbelievable number of journal databases and resources.  My personal experience researching is mainly in history and a bit in medical science, but I'd be happy to help with almost any subject area.

As we'll have to do this online, we can work out the best method of remote assistance, and I can't travel to look through physical archives, sorry!  The records (though not the sources themselves) will have to be electronic.  I obviously won't be much help for science lab work, but I can help you find previous studies in your field.

I won't write the paper for you or read all the sources.  While I'd love to do all your research, I'm pretty sure that's not what whoever gave you the assignment had in mind, so I'll walk you through the methods I'd recommend and find a reasonable number of sources and such, just like a virtual one-on-one reference librarian, but with a lot more time spent than most librarians can spend.

*There may be a few topics or areas I simply don't feel I'm very good at researching; for example, I'm completely crap when it comes to law archives at the moment, so if you want a lot of judicial decisions, don't bid.  If I don't feel like I'd be able to help you, I'll reply underneath your bid.

Any questions?  Just ask below, I'll be checking back regularly until bidding closes.

Contact: Quill2002 at gmail dot com.

Delivery: I will work around whatever due date is best for you, but I need at least two-three weeks before you want to have all the information in order to be sure I can schedule time to work with you.

Minimum bid: $15.

Buy It Now: $65.

The higher the bid, the more help you get! ;)

offered: consultation, offered: misc services
