Didn't feel tired after work today--maybe it's the long bus ride home that always zaps my energy?

Once free, I hung out in the downtown strip of the suburb I work in. First stop, cupcakery. Very small cafe atmosphere, boasting hand-made sweets, French press coffee, and decorated in pastel blues and greens with vingtage mixers on display.

THEN I went somewhere else for real din. Whoops.

Attended a free lecture at the public library about Zen art. Learned about symbols like the Zen eccentrics--happy vagabonds who live off charity or what they could find while keeping their minds beyond the physical realm.

Also fun to hear debate about the term "Zen art." The ink-brush scenes of mountains and bent trees were a part of Japanese culture long before Buddhism arrived, so why do we associate them with one sect of one religion? Also, if an artist made a panel for a temple, but didn't practice Zen personally, is it still Zen art?

All I know is, I like ink.
