A New Kind of Conditioning

Apr 12, 2005 07:22

Travis instituted new conditioning this morning for us land-practice folks. The workout was supposed to be 3x2k (3 sets of 2000 metres) with a two-minute rest in between. We got through two sets and he told us to put up the ergs because he had a new task for us. We got to haul the remains of the trailer-breaking tree behind ARC's boathouse on the other side of the road. That's a lot of wood! It was a good workout for the upper body, but now my legs and forearms are scratched, some bleeding. Woo hoo. All six of us just said, "I can't believe we get up at 4am to come out here and haul wood." The cars going by (well the ones that didn't hit the stray branches in the road) were probably wondering if we were the night crew or prisoners doing our community service. How fun. Other than that, practice was uneventful. But gosh I so want to get back on the water. There is hope, though. Megan and I are still talking about taking out the double next week when crew is over. Sweet. And perhaps Katie would also be willing to row with me when she has some time. I have three months in Arizona with no water, so I want as much time on the water as possible.

Now that I've had a little breakfast, I'm going back to bed. Enjoy the day!
