Spring Breaks
"What've you been doing?"
"Crack! Speed! Weird shit!"
So I didn't get a tattoo this spring break like I kind of wanted to (but was too broke for and didn't have any time for), but I did do a number of exciting things, which I humbly present here in the form of a list, sorted by day.
Wednesday:
-Woke up still at SCAD.
-Declared Starlia King Of Bagels
-Boarded various airplanes and eventually ended up in Indiana, after various trips through the sky and giggling openly while reading Drawing Blood on said planes.
-Met Mom and Sister at airport, hugs were had. Driving occurred.
-Dinner at Lennie's with the family, got a fantastic pizza.
-"Hats off, gentlemen: a genius."
Thursday:
-Got to be Megan's emergency chauffeur, talked for a while and caught up.
-Ended up at the Shark Park with Sister, Sao, and Nicole. (also ice cream)
-Behaved in a generally suspicious manner (and by 'suspicious,' I of course mean college-aged people [and sister] enjoying the fuck out of a playground in the presence of very small children and their parents) and chatted and caught up.
-Left eventually to run errands: went to Longship to buy Asian candy.
-Sister appreciated the dead fish.
-In the course of a very roundabout path to Dats to meet Jess, acquired James. After lots and lots of screaming and driving backwards and slow-motion tackling of cars.
--(the slow-motion tackling of cars was, of course, performed by James)
-Shady dealings.
-Late lunch/early dinner at Dats (Me, Sister, Sao, Nicole, Jessica, James)
-Met Sister's hipster friend at Rhino's and proceeded to the record store, where I bought Sister a record. (Fleet Foxes)
-Checked out cult movies at the movie store next to that pizza place, near the Black Market.
-Encountered Jeremy Gotwals and ended up howling at the moon and singing Oh Comely very loudly in front of the Sample Gates.
-Sold some prints to various people. (Made $30!)
-Eventually was deposited back at car, drove with Sister over to Megan's voice professor's house, where Megan was pet-sitting again.
-Watched Shrek, ate breadsticks.
-Chilled with Cole and Amanda, who showed up.
-Home.
Friday:
-Drove Sister and a pair of dead fish to Bryan Park, where she was to film her friends having a duel with said dead fish.
--No, really. Frozen dead fish from the Asian Market. I drove with the windows open because they were starting to thaw. They went from rigid to sinking-down-in-the-plastic-bag and they had these big blank dead-fishy eyes.
-Drove back home.
-Went to see Paul, that new Simon Pegg & Nick Frost movie, with Dad. (It was good.)
-Met up with Amanda at Yarns Unlimited, where she bought some prints from me and chatted with Dad.
-Dinner at Mikado with Dad & Mom.
Saturday:
-Pizza for breakfast, then headed across town to visit Sao and Nicole.
-Saw Cole, sold him a print.
-Got help from Nicole removing my earring, promptly lost the bead. (Captured bead rings impossible in every way.)
-Got to finally wear my tentacle earring.
-Fried rice for second-breakfast.
-Errands! (got a new earring, got to visit the yarn store)
-Caught up with yarn store ladies, bought a new magnetic snap to sew onto my bag where it's broken, and also square knitting needles.
-Chilled for a while with Sao and Nicole. Ended up watching Miyazaki movies, eating this tomato-olive-onion pasta concoction that Sao had whipped up.
-Finished this.
-Got home late.
Sunday:
-Breakfast out.
-Headbanged to Prokofieff with Sister.
-Ice cream & shopping with Mom and Sister.
-Went out later, saw assorted Collins people (Megan, Jess, Jason, later Nicole)
-Dinner at Wright with Megan, Jess, and Jason. Discussion of a sudden luchadore throwdown in the middle of Wright, with tables flying everywhere.
-"On a scale of one to Clayton, how manly am I today?"
Monday:
-Realize in a terrible panic that this is one of three full days left in Bloomington.
-Lament passage of time.
-Freak out.
-Calm down.
-Get Sister in on costume-making shenanigans for MegaCon.
-Hobby Lobby. Sister laments that she cannot lick any of the dead starfish, or grow a frightening angry monkey in the bathtub.
-Collaborate with Sister on Smellerbee costume armor (which basically amounts to watching Sister cut foam and hot-glue fabric to it, with frequent breaks to scribble on things or try things on.
-Accidentally the bathroom.
-Film a fake cooking show in the bathtub in moody black and white, with the help of Sister, and also fabric dye, several gallons of hot water, leggings and a turtleneck from Goodwill, salt, detergent, a wooden spoon, and Avenged Sevenfold music.
-Turn the bathtub a pleasing shade of lavender.
-Film narration for Sister's great tragic film: Bubblefish.
--(this is, for the record, the same film that included a battle scene with actual dead fish)
Tuesday:
-Shit 8,000 bricks about how fast time is moving.
-Butternut Squash Soup.
-Wait for Sister to get home from school, then work on costume more.
-Observe that Sister is a wizard above many other wizards and can do crazy things with foam and hot glue and shoelaces.
-Realize in the future that there has been a sudden tense change, fix it.
-Went to visit James.
-He was pretty sure there were cameras watching some of his windows. We chatted.
-Showed him all my phone-pictures from SCAD, helping him to dispel the illusion that I've been going to school at Hogwarts.
-Takeout from Noodles & Company.
-Met up with Nicole at her dorm, chilled there for a while.
-Nicole and I ranted about Doctor Who for a good half-hour.
-Rian showed up, smacked me on the ass a few times, had an extended discussion about superheroes.
-Talking until 3:30 am.
Wednesday (today):
-Woke up at 11:30 or something.
-Drank all the tea and took all the Sudafed and Ibuprofen in a vain attempt to dispel the sickness that I seem to have come down with.
-Lunch at Bucceto's with Mom.
-Delivered another extended, caffeine-fueled rant about Doctor Who.
-Segued into a caffeine-and-pasta-fueled rant about LiCl.
-Errands, then back home. A lady in the Kroger bathroom told me a storm was coming and seemed very nervous.
-Messed around for a while online, did laundry, finished costume preparations (mostly)
-Gathered Sister and went to pick up Collins people for a farewell Denny's dinner.
-Crammed six people into my car (Me, Nicole, Sister, Jess, Megan, Jason)
-Denny's. Everything was beautiful. Discussions.
-Gray showed up, and he had chin-stubble. We talked for a long time about his chin-stubble.
-Food, talking. Lots of discussion of Wonderlust Kings, which was very satisfying.
-Gray got a maple-bacon ice cream sundae, and it was so delicious that he wept openly in joy.
-The waiter was not sure how to feel about this, as this was the first maple-bacon sundae (off the special limited-time bacon menu) that he had prepared.
-Eventually parted ways, with much hugging and sadness and Nicole reproaching me for leaving the day before her birthday. (I still feel bad about that.)
-Megan insists that I must not have too much fun with my new friends, or she might be jealous.
Thursday (tomorrow):
-Shit all the bricks
-Do all the packing
-Fly all the miles (to Orlando)
-Do all the things.
Right now:
-Take lots of medicine and go to sleep.
