Dolly Parton in Sweden

Quick update before I take a shower and pass out.
PRIDE Film Festival night one was great. They showed some films done over the course of seven days for a challenge first, and one was really nice. The other one was hilarious and sort of trainwreck.
Then, DRAG KINGS! :D They danced to a medley, including (and these are only the ones I can remember) Dancing Queen, YMCA, and a country song whose name I don't remember but whose words I remembered almost perfectly. Sao marveled at how deep the man's voice was.
Sao was the only one who showed up, but we had a lovely time. <3
Everything is lovely~
The shorts included:
(my favorite short) One about a guy coming out to his grandmother. His family is Jewish. It was really sweet, really well done.
One was the filmmaker musing about a letter he got where a guy said that all of the gays ought to be sent to an island--he went on for nearly the whole short about how awesome this island would be.
One was a little mini-documentary about a transguy and his wife, and his refusal of the gender binary.
One was "Make-A-Mate," which was just adorable.

The feature was a Swedish film called Patrik 1,5. It was wonderful. I'm going to try and get myself a copy, so stay tuned. It's about a gay couple who move into a nice suburban neighborhood, planning on adopting a child. It's alternately sweet and poignant, and has all these lovely little awkward moments. I utterly loved the opening scene, in which all the neighborhood men are introducing themselves and their wives to the protagonist, and he is being polite, and they ask him if his "little woman" is inside. He says something like, "Yes, my husband Sven will be out shortly." And I squeed, and Sven steps out all big and manly with his chin-scruff, and there was glee.
And all the characters are wonderful.

This ended up not so quick. I'm going to go take a shower now.
