Little Yuzu is Reading
The HelpKathryn Stockett
Last weekend when I got together with
pochacco906 and
smiledoggie for some crafting time, I started on this scarf. I got the inspiration from
twinkiechan's cute book
Crochet Goodies for Fashion Foodies. I say 'inspired' because I didn't use her pattern. I started to use the pattern in the book, but the cookies were turning out too big, so I ended up making it all up as I went along. The scarf consists of 25 cookies, five of each of the following: chocolate chip, iced chocolate, strawberry-chocolate pinwheels, pink-frosted sugar cookies, and iced oatmeal. The whole thing measures 74" (188 cm) long. I didn't want the cookies to be all in a straight line, so I sewed them together in a haphazard way.

The book calls for certain embellishments, like the chocolate chips and rainbow sprinkles, to be attached to the cookies with fabric glue. But since I don't have the best luck with craft glue keeping things in place, I embroidered every detail with yarn (using various colored yarns for the rainbow sprinkles). I crocheted this over the course of five days. Many movies and TV shows were watched while working on it, including:
Eclipse,
The Goonies,
Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel,
Chuck, and
White Collar. I also started listening to the audiobook of
The Help (really good book, by the way) last night while finishing up the details on the scarf. I love the way it turned out. It's so cute, I'm keeping this for myself. I can't wait to wear it!
