Sew a Hello Kitty Doll

Earlier this month when I went to Joann with pochacco906, I found a kit to make your own Hello Kitty plush. It comes complete with the fabric pieces already cut out, and the thread, buttons, eyes, nose, tail, stuffing and sewing needle required to make a doll. My 4-year-old niece has always wanted to craft with me when she sees me sewing, knitting or crocheting. This was the perfect Christmas gift for her, and something she and I can do together.

While sewing, I told her we needed some crafting music. So I played the Pride & Prejudice 2005 film score on my iPod touch. She said, "This is not fun crafting music." LOL. I told her we need relaxing music to sew to. She didn't mind after that. It was either this or the soundtrack to Yo Gabba Gabba! that I bought a couple weeks ago.

There's the finished doll perched on the Christmas tree. It's 10" (25cm) tall. Finished it about an hour ago. It took us an hour and a half to make it. She got tired doing the whip stitch around the entire doll, so I had to take over from there. But she loved sewing on the face details and stuffing the plush. She's so proud to have made her own Hello Kitty doll!
