The marathon has started. Fortunately, I think I was a little more prepared this time around. However, despite my best efforts, I'm already behind. I'm going to try to not let it get to me though. I think I drove myself insane first year just trying to keep on top of everything, giving up my life, and thinking about how stressed out I was. I feel like I've improved drastically in my life habits since the beginning of the summer (i.e., I'm cooking meals, cleaning my apartment more than once a semester and working out regularly). I think it also helps that we've started learning stuff that we can actually apply in practice! Woo hoo!!! I'm going to feel so smart at the end of this year.
Tonight I've actually been having fun studying virology, all thanks to my new dry-erase board! I've been playing a kind of pictionary with myself, incorporating all the families of viruses in a certain group in one picture, then making myself remember the family names by recreating the picture and recalling what it stood for. Example: segmented (-) ssRNA viruses are Orthomyxoviridae, Bunyaviridae, and Arenaviridae. The picture is a bunny (Bunya) getting orthopedic surgery (Orthomyxo) in the Colosseum (arena). 'Tis fun. Maybe I'll be able to turn all of my studying from now on into something more of a game.
I love my cat so much.
Kelsey, all week in systemic pathology we were talking about the hepatobiliary system. Thought that would turn you on.
