PIRATES 2!!!
May I be the first to report that Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest is COMPLETELY KICK ASS! Talk about an awesome movie!
So I get home from class last night to find a little card on my desk. Inside was a wonderful note from Channing about an early birthday present and two tickets to the midnight showing of Pirates! Talk about an awesome surprise!!!! I thought he wouldn't want to go because of work today. But he's toughing out the tiredness because he loves me!!
Anyway- story line was superb, hysterical, writing was clever, and acting was greatly improved from the first movie for many actors (the master Johnny Depp was at his best as always). Visual effects were one of the most impressive things about the movie, the CG will blow you away it fits so seamlessly into the movie. The fighting was good, and the parts I thought would be over-the-top (such as fighting on a water wheel) were so fun you really didn't care. They swept you up and took you along for an exciting ride of plot twists and turns, one-liner's like only "pirates" can do ("Where's that monkey... I want to shoot something..."), and all of your favorite characters were there plus a bunch of new ones that are just as impressive (many more so).
All in all, IT WAS WELL WORTH THE WAIT and will have you BEGGING for the third movie (which is due out next year, damn them... wait, is there still a chance for me to work on the next one?). It has been a long time since I have been this satisfied with a movie-going experience, and let me tell you: my expectations were high.
