What Would You Do?

So, it's no secret that my husband is having a MAJOR love affair with his son.  I think it's cute and good for Sebastian to have a father so invested in him.  HOWEVER...

Jacquelynn called me last night to inform me that the dates I had planned out for this 4-day girlie weekend with the cousins (Sebastian, Cyrus and baby Logan when he is born) is not ( Read more... )

I didn't get to comment earlier that this sounds like a fabulous trip!

On one hand, I can understand R's reluctance. I know Tim was NOT happy when I told him I wanted to keep Ryan with me in Buffalo for almost three weeks this summer, as long as I'm not working. But he came around when I spelled out for him that this is an opportunity that will probably not be available to us in the future, and we should take it while we can. Sounds like you're in a similar situation.

So I don't think you're being unreasonable at all. I think it's especially reasonable since there will be other little ones there in the same situation. Good luck with the discussions.

I agree. If it were just the girls and no kids, different story. I also can sympathize because I'd be sad too if I went an entire weekend without seeing my son. However, the time will come when that will happen and we all just need to learn to be okay with that. Something tells me by 8-9 months, he won't be so reluctant.

I don't think you are being unreasonable. The plan is for the girls to bring the babies, aren't they all bringing them? It's not like you do this every weekend, and who knows when you will get the chance to do it again? It may be that next time you all want a girls weekend you will want to have the kids stay home with the dads. Plus, what are the chances that Robert is going to take Sebi on the 10 day fishing trip someday? That will be his father-son time, for 10 days! Should Sebi stay at home during that time while Robert goes fishing when Sebi is old enough to go because you are going to be at home and available to care for him?

Best of luck with the discussion!

Wow - that's kind of crazy! I look forward to the times that Craig takes Hunter away because it gives me time to myself. Of course, he's never taken him away overnight, but still...it's a nice break. Also, it R is ok going away on his fishing trip and being away from Sebi for a weekend, then what difference should it make if he's away from Sebi for a weekend because YOU take him away. I think it's silly and he needs to let you have your weekend with your son!

You are not being unreasonable AT ALL. It's ok for him to be away from Sebi for 10 days on his terms (I am assuming Sebi isn't ready for fishing quite yet ; ) but not for just 4 days on your terms?? That isn't fair! Isn't the point of your trip to get away with the gals (and not leave one at home) and your baby boys?

Good luck with your discussion!

I think he's being totally unreasonable. He's willing to leave Sebi for a fishing weekend, but so he can be apart when you make plans too.
