Brace yourselves. Tough one to watch. Tough one to rewatch. Even tougher to process... and damn near impossible to write down, so I ended up using close to 6,000 words. This goddamn show. *sobs*
Sammy, thanks for all your hard work on this review- I think you answered my q from the other day pretty well:) I need to go back and read that part again but what you say here about ziva not knowing exactly how Tony felt about her until the penny dropped in the warehouse scene makes total sense now.
And even though it was beautiful I hated that reveal about Adam at first- but after having several days to digest, and reading your insights and those of others, it really was a brilliant scheme by the writers. Really. Allowing Tony the scene to show that he feels romantic love for Ziva and not just friend/partner love was completely brilliant, and so much better than just coming out on a date and telling her that he loves her. And so much better than like with Jeanne, who had to manipulate him into saying it to her. Ziva can know without hearing the exact words, that's how well she knows him.
Which brings me to one other thing- your analysis about the cars!!! Wow. cool. (I still wonder if the writers do these metaphorical things on purpose, or not?) What do you think? At any rate, the idea that each car goes with one of Tony's previous relationships with women is great. And I also agree that even with her shades, Ziva was mimicking Tony. Who knows, maybe she will give him the car some day? I too am looking forward to a mention next year of what car Tony bought; i doubt that will get squeezed in this week.
Thanks again so much! will look forward to all our gasps on Tuesday!
