Supervisor called this morning. Re: a computer disk we mailed back to a customer and customer never got. Other Judy took an ad the beginning of Nov. Sent disk up to main office with a padded addressed envelope to return it to customer. A week later one of the Frederic ladies called to ask "What am I supposed to do this this, I just found it on my desk." Now admittedly Judy did not attach a note saying Mail this back but she did attach an addressed envelope to the disk. Anyway I just told the gal on the other end to send it back in the shuttle and Judy will know what to do. It came back in the next shuttle but Judy was not in to work all that week. I personally walked down to the post office and mailed it out. On my own, my detective work was I first found the ad, then got out a 2009 calendar and found when it was in paper, found other paperwork in basement to learn the exact date it was placed and then back to calender and time cards to figure out when Judy was not working and then I could finally pin point within 2 days when I mailed it out. This is so that on Monday when Judy does come in again I can find out what address she had on the envelope and did she have a return address on it. The customer went to her post office to see what she could do and was told they couldn't do anything but maybe our St. Croix Post office would be able to help. Problem with that is I did not have them weigh it and put their postage on it. I had some large denomination stamps from something I never ended up needing to mail out and I used them just to use them up. That means there is no receipt or anything to go by.
Turns out customer gave us her one and only original disk she paid a lot of money to have made which was pictures of her restaurant. Never should have done that. She has learned a lesson and we now have learned to ask more ?'s when people bring things in. Supervisor admits it is not our fault but we still have to try and help the lady. It is hard to remember things that took place 2 1/2 months ago and I was not even involved in the original transaction. I just remember the lady coming in. We will do our best to help her out though.
