So. Clarence left for Shenzhen yesterday evening. He'd been dreading this trip since he was asked to go, all because of his little girl. (After some pouting, he said it was 'cos he'd miss me too.) It's not as though we've never been away from each other, but I guess now with the new addition it does feel different.
I don't know what came over me but I cried at the airport! So embarrassing. Not like he'll be gone for a long time.
When I reached home, it was time to feed Emma. I've been having some problem feeding her from the bottle the last few days. She's been ok with it all along, and I switch freely between breast and bottle, so it's not a case of nipple confusion. But suddenly (since Sunday) she started rejecting the bottle and crying when I give it to her. Anyway, as I was saying, when I reached home, it was time for her feed. I thought I should persevere and force her to take the bottle, but after 45 minutes, with neither party wanting to give in, we both ended up crying! She was really upset and I was so frustrated. She didn't take much milk finally, and I refused to let her suckle, but after all that crying I don't think she was very hungry in the end.
Thank God for wonderful neighbours (again). Lester came over to fix up my modem so that I can use the mac (Clarence has taken the laptop with him...can you imagine, he has to bring his own for work?) and Sulin was baking walnut & raisin bread so they asked me over. Sean helped to babysit while Sulin gave me some advice about what I should do with Little Poppet's fussing over the bottle. My neighbours have such big hearts.
Clarence called once his plane touched down, and was just in time to say goodnight to his little girl(s) before she (they) slept peacefully through the night.
NB. Thanks to Sulin as well as
my wonderful friends, I got her a Nuk bottle today and now she seems to be quite happy with it. I was using Avent before, and I think the Nuk teat seems to agree with her more. Yay (for now)!
