New job assignment is going okay.
I am picking up what tasks need to be done pretty well, since they had me work on each chunk independently to get comfortable, but they weren't kidding when they said it was tedious.
For each file I have to:
1. Go through the weekly attendance sheet and cross off anyone who wasn't there that week.
2. Go back through and highlight all the names on the attendance sheet on the register. If there was a child on the attendance sheets that wasn't on the register, look them up and writhe them in (I don't have a computer so I have to get some else to look them up).
3. Go back through the register and high light the birth dates of the kids that get free meals in one color, and reduced meals in another.
4. Tally the register info and write it down (again, have to have someone with a computer do this).
5. Pull out the menus and make sure each meal meets the requirements (really fast to do).
6. Take the meal tally sheets and make sure that the children's meal tallies are right.
7. Take the register and highlight if the child gets free, reduced, or paid meals on the meal tally sheet.
8.Take the meal tally sheet for one class and check for duplicates in the class above (really, really tedious). If there are any duplicates, make sure that there aren't any duplicate dates. If there are, cross one off and subtract it from the previous tally.
9. Do a final tally of how many free, reduced and paid meals there are and write it on the tally sheet.
However, it gets really fun if a child has different names-they go by a nickname, or they have two close, but not equal names, because we then have to play "who the heck is this child?"
Which is bad, because if the child isn't tallied, the school may not meet the state's guidelines and may not get the appropriate reimbursements.
I had one child that was listed as one name on the attendance sheets, with a completely different last name and slightly differently spelled first name on the register.
I had her crossed off the register, but noticed the second name on the meal tally sheets. So I had to have someone look her up, and redo the register.
Bonus... she was listed as both on the meal tally sheets for two separate classes.
