"Words are clothes that thoughts wear."

Consider me naked. Writer's block should be considered a hazardous working condition.

This on writing:
"Find a subject you care about and which in your heart you feel others should care about. It is the genuine caring, and not your games with language, which will be the most compelling and seductive element in your style."
I am writing about the community fair. I am writing about dangerous buildings, and the new guy on the planning commission. I am writing about crime stats (they are down) and a bunch of other stories I can't even remember. Actually, I am not writing about anything write now because I? Have writer's block.

A Peanuts cartoon:
You should try writing an adventure story. Try writing about a real hero type!
So snoopy writes "He was a dark and stormy knight."
This is actually a great cartoon. The biggest challenge to writing is always the lede. I swear I catch myself reusing ledes.

A New Yorker Cartoon: (Guy pitching his idea to a publisher:) "I don't have a title yet, or even a subject. All I have is the price: Twenty-three ninety-five in hardcover."
Okay, so at least I have subjects. And some headlines.
This makes me feel somewhat better.

"A professional writer is an amateur who didn't quit."
This is also helpful. See guys, I made it this far without quitting.

An interesting fact:
British writer John Creasy receiverd 774 rejections before selling his first story. He went on to write 564 books, using fourteen different names.
