[A. Action for household: Mae is looking around the destroyed house]

.....Oh wow. It feels more like home already. Wish they'd left me my pip-boy though.

[ B. Action: On the streets of Mayfield, oh dear lord the humanity ....wait what the hell is that woman doing? Ah yes the proud tradition of looting/scavenging. She's got a stick on her back, a ( Read more... )

[Don't mind Quinn as he walks around in a daze. Sure, he's played enough video games and seen enough movies just like this, but it's not qjuite the same now, is it?

Oh. It's you. He hasn't forgotten her from the dance. Well, no wonder she looks fine and dandy.]

H-Hey. I'm, uh... okay, I guess.

It's hard to get used to, I know.

Yeah. You ain't kiddin'. I... I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing.

[He sits down on a nearby stone, pulls out a rumpled cigarette and lights it up. Screw the quitting, this is the apocalypse.]

Simple. Salvage whatever you can and survive.

Right. Hate to be a downer here, but I'm pretty sure I'm a goner.

Don't be like that. It's not as impossible as you might think. I was pretty sure I was going to die in a day when I first came to the Wasteland. You'd be surprised what you're capable of when you need to survive.

Yeah, but I ain't prepared for this kinda thing, I... I really oughta ration these cigarettes. [Done this one already? Damn.] I don't do well in these situations. This is why I was tryin' to get my act together. Too little, too late, I guess.

What's so hard about this? Surviving is surviving.

No food, no water, no shelter, 'n' I'm pretty sure radiation's gonna be a factor after a few days. What's not hard about this?

Basements still work. Food is salvage from stores and basements in houses. Water can be located somewhere.

Radiation.....well I don't think we can do anything about that, but until then we should at least try to survive.

I can only hope you're right about this.

Of course I am.

Besides, giving up is just letting them win. And I'm not letting them win.

[He considers that a moment, then nods, smiling a bit.] Let me borrow some of that optimism, okay?

[Grins.]

Sure, it's a rare commodity in places like this though so I'll have to keep an eye on you to make sure you don't run off with it.
