So... after troublesome not-meetings and such, we were dragged through Troy on foot. I would have taken pictures, but 1) I forgot my camera and 2) we did not ever get to stop until we reached a not-so-interesting park. There, bad music was played loudly and occasionally speakers talked to us, the usual "welcome!" "this is college!" "this is Troy!" and "OMG Uncle Sam!" stuff. They did play some good music though-- One More Time, Call on Me, Days Go By, Beat It, Sandstorm, Hey Baby, Build Me Up Buttercup, the saxophone song whose name I can't spell, a really neat bit of techno (reminiscent of So Deep from DDR), and for good measure, Never Gonna Give You Up. :) They also played Cotton-Eye Joe-- more people danced to it than anything else-- and even the Electric Slide. Good for lulz. Those songs made the sun, boring talks, large quantities of bad music, and very long wait for food bearable. Also, I talked with Ivy and got to see all the dogs that frats and sororities (is there an abbreviation?) were walking. Though, one frat had not a dog, but a tiny little black pig on a lead!
Again, sorry for no pics.
But! That wasn't what I was going to talk about! No, I was going to say: after the stressful morning and obligatory afternoon stuff, I got to relax a bit and have fun. Ivy and I went to her room, so I got to see what the Quad, the oldest residence hall group, looks like. Very nice and old-fashioned-y architecture inside and out. As for rooms: their rooms are smaller and don't have as nice furniture, but they have their own bathrooms instead of floor bathrooms. So, we talked, looked at a lot of XKCD, went through her geek/gamer t-shirts and figurines, and-- wait for it-- I got to play some Portal! It was great (all of it, not just Portal, though that was certainly great... but I am no good with FPS POV -_-;;). She had a lightsaber and we went outside with it, then realized she had locked herself out. We had to wait for someone to let her in, since we couldn't figure out which window to throw rocks at (her roommate was back by then).
When I got back to Nason, a group of kids were watching the Serenity movie in the lounge, so I got to see most of that. Serenity is a sci-fi show, space ships and all, with a wild west kind of flair. A continuation of Firefly, I believe. Like Bebop in some ways, but... If Bebop was a PS game, this would be the Xbox equivalent... does that make sense? But I mean that in the best way.
Anyway, having seen the movie, I'm pretty spoilered for the show, but now I'm interested in seeing it (I had heard of it from Mary Y., but never seen it before). Also, the captain is Captain Hammer. Same group does it that did Dr. Horrible, I think someone said. We then hooked up a computer and watched that, too. :D
