The final installment of the Harry Potter series is really turning out to be all it's cracked up to be. I am only on page 401 (a little more than halfway through) and already a lot has happened. It is so different from the previous six books but it's still so hard to put down. This has been a very full weekend so I'm surprised I was able to get through as much as I have. Friday was brilliant as Grace and I got our Hogwarts shirts, ate lunch and then crimped our hair a la Hermione Granger and Luna Lovegood. After drinks and dinner with Chris and Christine we ventured into the chaos that was the B&N Midnight Party. I've never seen the place so crowded and we were all excited. Our wristbands put us in the 300's which surprisingly did not equal a long wait. As I took the book into my hands, I was a little sad--it would be the last time I'd ever get to buy a new Harry Potter book. 23-years-old and I've been reading these books since I was 15--that's a significant chunk of my life coming to a close...
I am terribly sunburned from a Sunday spent down the shore with Ed but it's healing little by little. We had a great time and I went swimming in the ocean after what seemed like a long hiatus. It was great once I got over the sand in my new suit. Ed got knocked around a bit, especially by the current--I always forget that I'm a stronger swimmer than most so it was funny seeing little me pulling over my former offensive lineman downstream. It was a good time and I came home and read myself to sleep.
This week is really going to be buckle-down time in regards to September. After finishing HPandtheDH, I will finish my summer reading and start mapping out the first month or so, maybe even get some hand-outs printed. I'm also working on a plan of attack with the newspaper situation...I need ways to get kids motivated as I'm not sure at all what I will be dealing with in terms of enthusiasm. I do know that snacks and extra credit are always a plus so maybe I'll start there. Either way, I've got my work cut out for me.
My book is sitting in my bag and I wish I was leafing through the pages instead of turning over a boring accounting manuscript. *Sigh* three more weeks....
