Do you think it will be a problem in your future, that you will likely make more money then your significant other? It appears you will have an amazing job, good luck on the portugese, please keep us updated on the rosetta stone, I have heard great things about it as well, I am very much considering pickuing up the german one

Hey that's muito legal! (I have no idea if I said that right.)

I'd bet money that you'll learn with amazing rapidez. I knew this Italian girl in Spain and she spoke like no Spanish when I met her, then 3 months later she babbled the espaNol like a mofo.

Good luck!

They said that each level takes 3-4 months to complete if one studies 1-2 hours a day. There are three levels. After the first two one is functional and after level three one is considered proficient.

My guess? by the time I have to start studying for the bar (And therefore have to stop studying portuguese) I will be around level 2.5?

We shall see . . . I think pronunciation is going to be the most difficult! I'm excited though!!! *jumps up and down*

My guess is:

1) Your progress will be obscenely faster than that of a non-native Spanish/Italian/etc speaker.

2) But... while I haven't heard anything (non-ad) about Rosetta Stone, I have heard from language professors that language learning is exponentially more effective with live interaction as opposed to one-sided receiving of stuff.

Whatev. Guess we'll see how it goes! No matter what you're bound to learn something :)
