Summer List
As I get into FULL TIME DREAD MODE for school/work to resume, I thought it'd be nice and positive to reflect on all the awesomeness this summer has brought me. And so, A List:
1. Two day trip to Ann Arbor to see Liz (and fam) and Eeeks (and fam)! It was brilliant and full of delicious tea, food, and conversation.
2. Coincidental visit to the Lavender Festival at Blakes orchard over on the east side. While the festival itself was not quite cracked up to what I thought it'd be, I had a great time wandering about with Megan and Val (and kids) and had some really yummy lavender foods/drink.
3. Visits with my family on the east side. Especially playing games with parents and Carl, getting time to chat with Grandpa, and lovely, thoughtful birthday gifts (tea, movies, pretty serving platter, etc).
4. Another year where it worked out to spend some time hanging with Katie while she was in town from Korea!
5. Amazing fun visits from Rachel, Kim, Amy (and fam).
6. The shows! Frankenstein (with JLM and Cumberbatch), The Tempest (with Lee), the new rifftrax version of Manos, roller derbys, and a (Happy Funtime) burlesque show!
7. My very first comic con at Chicago with Rob!!
8. So many fun video games and movies happened too! Lots of Batman games, not to mention finishing Amalur, and top movies for me were- Avengers, Dark Knight 3, Moonrise Kingdom, the new Spiderman movie was surprisingly good, and Prometheus... (biggest meh award goes to: Brave).
9. Another fantastic road trip with kimmicakes, discovering all the randomness Minnesota and Iowa have to offer (hobos, spam, smoothies, goat, a big mall, indoor and outdoor art, illusive scenic routes, etc.)
10. Getting to hang out with Amy, Nicolle, and Amy, while also raising money to fight cancer AND drink beer all at the same time!
So even though I didn't get ANY work done, at least I did a lot of stuff and had fun! Plus I got my diploma and certification cleared up which was a huge weight off my shoulders. So all in all... it's been a good couple of months!
(Stuff I still want to do in the fall even though I'll be back to work and moving: ren fest, mackinac island... that's all that comes to mind right now)
