Pure poetry

Isaiah 46:4 says, "Even to [your] old age, I [am] He, And [even] to gray hairs I will carry [you]!  I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver [you]."  Shortly after, God expresses His concern with idol worship: "  They lavish gold out of the bag, And weigh silver on the scales;  They hire a goldsmith, and he makes it a god;  They prostrate themselves, yes, they worship.  They bear it on the shoulder, they carry it And set it in its place, and it stands; From its place it shall not move.  Though [one] cries out to it, yet it cannot answer Nor save him out of his trouble." (Is. 46:6-7).

Interestingly enough, the LORD compares His strength with that of an idol's.  Who would want to have to tote their god around, when the God of the universe promises to carry us?  To all of His children, the LORD is faithful to "bear" and "care" for them.  He also proclaims to never forget us (Is. 49:15) and to "...contend with him who contends..." with us (Is. 49:25).  Isn't it a comfort to know that God is in our corner.  He will "defend" and "contend" for us.  A created god cannot even speak, let alone consider us in it's thoughts.  Don't put your trust in the things of this world.  The God of the heavens and the earth is longing to be your help and your salvation.
