Exodus 10:3-6
So Moses and Aaron came in to Pharaoh and said to him, “Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, that they may serve Me. Or else, if you refuse to let My people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your territory. And they shall cover the face of the earth, so that no one will be able to see the earth; and they shall eat the residue of what is left, which remains to you from the hail, and they shall eat every tree which grows up for you out of the field. They shall fill your houses, the houses of all your servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians-which neither your fathers nor your fathers’ fathers have seen, since the day that they were on the earth to this day.’” And he turned and went out from Pharaoh.
i got to thinking about how Pharaoh and his people were already so good at destroying their own land, but God decided to provide some "helpers". the Egyptian's lives are like that of the people of this world who do not follow the LORD. they insist on eating everything in sight: all the temperary pleasures that they can get their hands on. this story really reflects that of those today who cannot be content and patient...however, God does not send locusts to show the world their silliness...He simply allows them to destroy their own lives in hopes that they will one day turn from thier wicked ways. let us as Christians do our part, be like Moses and Aaron, and show the lost what they are doing to themselves, and how they can stop living a life of destruction and start living a life of satisfaction and justification.
As the story in Exodus 10 continues, Pharaoh keeps saying he will let a few of the Israelites go: first the men...then the people, but not the livestock. and once again we see man's selfishness. we want to surrender maybe one sin that doesn't really captivate us all that much, but desire to hold onto the other sins. let us not be afraid to set it all at the Savior's feet and know that He has a bigger, better plan that we can ever imagine!
