Me (excited): Did you watch Sherlock?
Mum: (not hearing) What? Oh, Sherlock. Yes. (serious voice) I was very disappointed. Very disappointed.
Me (deflated): What? ...I thought it was amazing.
Mum: I didn't like that woman. I didn't like her at all, she was horrible.
Me: (that woman...?) Oh, Irene Adler? (she was brilliant! a fantastic adaptation of the very famous Sherlock Holmes character who is supposed to be varying degrees of horrible and... of which my mum probably has no knowledge whatsoever does she? ah) Er, yeah, she was a bit... different to the other versions.
Mum: I don't think I really 'got' it to be honest. But I'll watch the next one. I still like him.
This is why my mum and I will never like the same TV.
She thinks bisexuality isn't real and all bisexuals are actually gay. She probably thinks asexuality is a medical condition.
I do sometimes wonder if we share any opinions at all...
Still, she loves me and has always supported me. That's what matters of course.
