Diamond's Surgery

May 12, 2008 18:08

This morning at 9am I dropped off my beloved little one Diamond at the vet for surgery. A few months ago when I tried giving them kibble (they eat raw) she had a pretty bad colic episode and when the distended tummy went away a tiny umbilical hernia remained. Those reading may recall she was the pup born in my car on the way to the vet for the c-section (it was not expected!) and her umbilical cord ripped quite close to the skin. This is the suspected reason for the sudden hernia at 13 wks old..the area was already weak from a traumatic birth. But I digress.....
Diamond's surgery was very speedy and she made it through without a hitch. She immediately wanted food and on the way home we stopped and she got to have some roast beef from Tim Horton's. Henry was along the whole time to make her more comfortable since they are good buddies, and the reuinion was quiet and gentle - Henry really seemed to know she didn't feel 100% and cleaned her ears while she snuggled in her bed.
For now she is resting in the whelping pen (4'L next to my side of the bed)in her new Cookie Monster bed with her toys and chewies and some water. She has already had 2 oz of the raw mush and should be able to handle another 2 oz later. I'm so happy she's doing well! :-)
