I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS ABOUT GLEE. MOSTLY ABOUT HOW MERCEDES AND KURT AND I ARE ALL GOING TO GET MARRIED IN A GLORIOUS POLYGAMOUS CEREMONY OF AWESOME.
Uhm. I suppose "Beautiful" waaaas a little too easy-solution, but. Uh. My unconditional and possibly unhealthy love for Mercedes made it qualify as awesome for me. I accept that my Mercedes-love leads me to tacitly approve of lazy writing, buuuuuut MERCEDES IS BEAUTIFUL, DAMMIT.

This episode got away with extra-adult-focusing for three reasons - the beautiful moment (albeit kind of unfounded) of Will and April falling asleep, The Cheno singing at all, ever, and how desperately I love Kurt and his dad. I adore their relationship like crazy, because I feel like it's one of the few places that the writers don't take the easy way out in either direction, you know? It's a dad who loves the shit out of his son, but doesn't really get him, and a son who loves the shit out of his dad, but doesn't really get him, and both of them trying to be there for each other and it not always working perfectly. It fills me with FEELINGS, to bring this comment full-circle with the subtlety worthy of the Glee writers :-P
